Senior Development Editor (Maternity Cover/Part-Time)

A highly successful publisher of educational products, both print and digital is looking to recruit a Senior Development Editor for their Higher Education team to cover a maternity leave contract (up to 12 months) on a part-time (28 hours a week over 4 days) basis.
This role will involve working closely with other internal departments, including Publishing, Sales & Marketing and Production, as well as overseeing external freelancers, suppliers and authors and will be responsible for managing and driving forward the editorial stages of a number of print and digital learning solutions and projects.
Some of the key responsibilities will include:
- Project manage and work with authors and other content providers to produce manuscripts and digital learning solutions that meet market expectations.
- Draw up appropriate development plans for assigned projects, including initial development research/reviewing and draft content.
- Support the Publisher/List Managers to ensure that final author contracts are drafted after validation of projects
- Work with authors, contributors and other content providers to project manage the delivery of print and digital products
The successful person will have strong editorial, content and project management skills, including working with authors and contributors, with solid experience in an editorial role, ideally from an HE publishing background, working with digital products, with an understanding of copyright, rights and permissions. You will have sound project management skills with experience of planning, scheduling and delivering high quality work to tight deadlines; be a highly organised individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Strong IT skills are essential for this role, including MS Office.
This role is due to start in February and will be based remotely for the foreseeable future.
