Insight Analyst X 2

A highly successful open access publisher of peer reviewed journals is looking to recruit two switched on and motivated Insight Analysts to be responsible for building and maintaining dashboards from the company’s internal database, using business intelligence software.  Reporting to the Head of Publishing Insight and Innovation, this is a pivotal role where you will provide periodic commentary and interpretation based on these dashboards, to key stakeholders. These roles will broadly cover journal development and/or Publishing Operations.

Some of the main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Helping to build and maintain data visualizations and dashboards to track important metrics
  • Under supervision, help prepare analytical reports in response to specific research questions
  • Provide periodic commentary and interpretation of dashboards
  • Contribute to internal documentation of research methodologies and findings
  • Build ad-hoc reports in response to urgent business requirements

The successful person will be competent in SQL as this will be key to your ability to excel in this role, but additional programming languages would be a plus. You will have proven experience in a data analytics or business intelligence role (preferably in the publishing industry), and educated to degree level or equivalent, (preferably in a physical science, mathematics, information management/technology subject, though other subjects will also be considered). Ideally, you will be familiar with the principles of scholarly journal publishing, with an understanding of basis statistical methodologies.  The ability to communication complex data and ideas clearly is essential as are advanced spreadsheet skills. You will be experienced in using one or more programming languages including SQL, with a passion and curiosity for developments in data and technology.

Our client is offering a hybrid working policy, working from their London office at least 2 days a week.
