Financial Editor - Part Time

A well-established publisher of information for the finance sector is looking to recruit an experienced Editor to manage the publishing of three existing annual publications, initially on a part-time basis of 20-24 hours per week, which can be flexible. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Editor will research topics and commission contributors for new books and special reports. You will be responsible for the entire publication process from commissioning content through to the finished product, managing the process efficiently and professionally to high standards.
The Editor will research new titles, generate ideas, commission, edit, brief the designer and schedule. You will also work with marketing and sales to ensure the books are commercially successful.
Key responsibilities will involve:
- Planning publications schedules to deadlines
- Commission editorial content for new publications and managing existing publications plus special reports
- Responsibility for the production of the publications; dealing with printers and designers,
- Proofreading and editing
- Ensuring the publication directories are up to date and correct
- Work with the marketing team to produce marketing material including press releases
We are looking for an experienced Editor with extensive editing experience, and someone who is able to manage a heavy workload. You will have bags of initiative and the ability to research new titles to extend the business line.
The role would suit someone with substantial editorial experience, ideally in a commercial finance sector, but more importantly you will have the passion to succeed, vision, creativity and you will be someone who loves coming up with new ideas. You will be analytical and numerate, confident and a strong team player.
